class summary
In this course, students will learn how to simplify the process of watercolor painting by mastering the fundamental techniques of the medium including: drybrushing, creating a wash, and layering colors to create a painting of their choice. Students will get to see live demonstrations and work one on one with the instructor to learn at a pace geared for all skill levels
MATERIALS
A variety of sytnthetic round watercolor brushes
Small portable container for water
Watercolor Tubes: (good brands to get are Daniel smith and Winsor Newton)
Yellow Ochre
Indian Red
French Ultramarine Blue
Viridian
Ivory Black
lemon yellow
scarlet
Students are welcome to try other colors as well
depending on the subject they choose to paint
140-300lb Hot Press and Cold Press Watercolor Paper
(preferably Arches or Fabriano). If you aren’t sure about paper we will go over everything in depth on the first day!
A Drawing Board or Large Clip board
Painter’s tape
paper towels
A box or portfolio case to transport
your artwork and materials
We will go over all materials on the
first day of class to answer any questions.
You don't need anything on the first day other than
a pencil and paper
SYLLABUS
Here’s a rough outline of what we’ll be covering!
Week 1 Overview of materials, Introduction to Watercolor Painting
Week 2 Practicing the wash technique
Week 3 Watercolor still life painting using the wash technique
Week 4 Drybrushing
Week 5 Starting a final painting using the techniques learned in class
Week 6 and 7 Finishing up the final painting!

Please contact us at least 1 week before class for a full refund. Unfortunately due to our limited class sizes we cannot process refunds after this time. Transfers to other classes are usually possible
It is possible that a class is cancelled if an inadequate number of students register. In this case, tuition will be promptly refunded

Anyone who must miss classes may attend up to two make-up sessions in other classes as long as space permits
